How did you start? I was first introduced to climbing at my brother’s birthday party in 1999. From there, my passion grew.
What kind of climbing do you prefer? Sport Climbing!
Describe the perfect day. Sunny, crisp weather. About 60 degrees, no clouds, beautiful nature setting.
What have you learned from climbing? Everything is possible, and hard work pays off.
What significance does climbing have in your life? Climbing is not only my sport, but it is my passion. I love to climb whether I want to train, or to just have a good time with friends.
Are you afraid to break bones? No. I find fear holds you back.
Are you afraid to die? No haha, I never think about that!
What did your mother say when you started climbing? Go for it! She has always been extremely supportive
What does your mother say about it now that you're jet-setting, rich and famous? Academics come first!
What's your favorite food? That’s tough! Probably my grandma’s apple pie!
What are you driving? BMW X5 baby!
Do you watch tv? Not really.
Do you climb competitively ? YEAH!
Why? I love competitions; When I train, I have the determination of doing well in a competition, as well as excelling outside. In competitions, I feel as though I am competing against myself more than anyone else; pushing myself as much as I can to do my best. I also love getting to see everyone and encouraging all my friends at competitions!
What do you like most about comps? The motivation they require, as well as the social aspect. I love pushing myself whether in a competition or outside.
What do you like least about comps? Messing up!
What do you think of the comp scene? I love it! Everyone is so supportive of each other!
How do you train for comps? I climb about 5 days a week and sometimes do upper body workouts or running.
Do you climb indoors a lot? Yes. There are not many outdoor crags around the DC area, however I try to get outdoors as much as possible!
Does it make you stronger or weaker? Stronger.
What other activities do you participate in? I enjoy running and skiing. I have been skiing since I was about 3!
What's the hardest sport you've tried? Cross Country! Although I love running, the practices for cross country were exhausting!
How much do you travel? Very often.. just about every weekend.
Do you train your weaknesses or your strengths? Both. When I’m training I am always more drawn to my strengths because that is what I’m better at, however I know that training my weaknesses is absolutely essential. I like to keep a balance.
Whatʼs the best thing about being in a photoshoot? Climbing in beautiful places!
The worst thing about being in a photoshoot? Continuously doing the same move!
What advice would you give to someone that wants to be a professional climber? Hard work pays off. Set your goals high, and stick to them!
