Name: Chris Sierzant
Age: 28 Primary residence: Acworth, Georgia Yrs climbing: 14 Height: 5'10'' Weight: 150lb
How did you start? I started climbing trees in my back yard, shortly after that a friend took me out to climb real rock...I was hooked.
What kind of climbing do you prefer? I prefer soloing...but sport climbing is next to that.
What's your most memorable climbing experience? Every day from the time I first touched rock to today. What do you think of trad climbing? I feel like traditional climbing more dangerous than soloing...
Sport climbing? With sport climbing it depends on a lot of variables...who bolted the line...how good is the rock...how old and rusted are the bolts...how cold is it....how hot is it.
Alpine climbing? I haven't done much Alpine climbing...then again there's not much Alpine in Georgia. If I had the oppurtunity to go I would I'm open to anything climbing related.
Mixed climbing? Not too sure what I think about that????
Bouldering? Seems like the social aspect of our sport. To me it's practice climbing, just because you are a good boulderer doen't mean that you are a good climber. What did your mother say when you started climbing? I don't think that she knew what I was getting into. Even to this day she has no clue what I do. I'm sure most kids that try to explain climbing to there parents usually find the passion one sided. My mom worries about me running in the Southeasten heat. She thinks I'm going to have a heat stroke. Maybe I shouldn't explain soloing to her....
What's your favorite food? I'll eat anything, but I have a thing for sweets.
What are you reading? A very thick book on Fidel Castro and Carl Marx "The Capitalist"
What are you driving? A 2000 nissan frontier that I bought for 5g's from an 11 fingered man that lived in Norcross with his 2 wives and 8 kids in a one bedroom apartment.
Do you watch tv? Only the spanish channel...it's a shame I have no clue what they are saying.
Do you climb competitively? At time I do but mostly I compete for myself progression.
Do you climb indoors a lot? No, No, No I own a gym. Kinda takes the fun out of climbing indoors, so I get out as much as I can to keep me on the level.
After climbing indoors a lot, how does it feel to go outside, are you stronger or weaker?
Smarter or dumber? I feel dumb inside because it's labeled and I still can't figure it out. When I'm outside I feel smarter and stronger. I have an understanding of how my body works with real rock.
What other activities do you participate in? I am a Martial Artist. I build various things. This year I hope to get more into hunting. I feel like Americans don't kill enough these days.
What's the hardest sport you've tried? Skate boarding Hands down. I have a ton of respect for those guys. I'm good at almost every sport I try but not that one.
Do you have a hero? Right now it's Fidel Castro
Why? He took over an entire Island with a hand full of men.
How much do you travel? More now than ever. I just got done building my second house. I live in it now and rent my old one out. It gave me more freedom and money.
What do you like most about traveling? The constant change that it brings to my life.
What do you learn from your travels? That when I'm not traveling I feel caged. When I'm caged...well let's just say it's not good for me to be caged....
If you could only climb in one place for the rest of your life, where would it be? Couldn't do that. I need change. Why? Is there anywhere else?
What's the most over-hyped area? If an area has hype then I would imagine that it is good. Hueco unfortunatly was a product of over-hyping.
What's the most under-hyped area? The Southeast, but not for long....
What are your strengths? Weaknesses? I have many strenghths but it's not good to mention ones weaknesses. Then people can use them against you.
Can you do a 1-arm pull up? How many? Yes I can...I just cranked out 5 on each arm the other day. Someone didn't believe I could do one, it's kindof a party trick though. It only helps climbing a little bit.
Whatʼs the best thing about being in a photoshoot? Well if people want to take your picture then you must have done something to deserve the attention.
The worst thing about being in a photoshoot? Having a photographer that asks you to put everything up for them. Lazy people suck.
What advice would you give to someone that wants to be a professional climber? Push hard because it's not getting any easier to get into such and industry.
What do you like about Bluewater? Bluewater is a very professional company. For many years they have help me out athleticly by hookin me up with the best gear.
What's your favorite Bluewater product? By far the 9.4 dynamic line.
Why? I do a ton of solo climbing, but when I tie in I wouldn't trust my life to any other line. They last forever too and make for a soft catch even when your belayer isn't paying attention.
